Kate Matlock-Shally


Kate's interest in Eastern art was inspired following a childhood spent in Japan. She acquired a Masters degree in the Decorative Arts but her fascination with the art of Eastern medicine lead her to further her studies in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. As a mother of two, Kate enjoys the application of Chinese medicine for the care and well being of children. She treats many conditions but her areas of special interest include infertility, pregnancy, gynaecology and dermatology. 

Kate studied at the London College of Traditional Acupuncture (LCTA) where she received her BSc (Hons) in acupuncture. She also has a postgraduate degree in Chinese herbal medicine from The University of East London. 


Kate was a co-founder of City Life Acupuncture a multi-bed clinic in the City of London but in 2011 she moved to Amsterdam (NL) where she continued working as a Chinese medicine practitioner and remained an overseas member of the British Acupuncture Council, OMBAcC and the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine, OMRCHM.  Kate was also a member of Zhong for acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine and a member of the RBNG:  Alternative Health Association in the Netherlands.  

In 2014 the family moved to Philadelphia where she continues to practice Oriental Medicine. Certified by the State Board of Medicine in Pennsylvania as a Licensed Practitioner of Oriental Medicine via the NCCAOM. Opening her first office in the Material Culture building, an enterprise with which she was associated for the last 15 years.
